I don’t like this! 😂 if I treat my Italian friends I don’t want them to feel like they need to reciprocate. I haven’t really noticed this but I never want to be the one who hasn’t reciprocated so maybe I should pay closer attention 😂

Haha I hope I didn't make you paranoid now! 😁It's a difference I noticed between Italians and Americans, but of course, if we talk about cultural tendencies and behaviors, there are always people at either sides of the spectrum :D

Also : I noticed a bit difference in the US on the east coast vs. West coast. For example in NYC or DC or Philly when you go to a party it’s about what you brought. Either items or social capital. In San Diego I showed up to so many parties empty handed and embarrassed and people do. Not. Care. They are so generous and just want you to relax and have fun. Especially at bonfires ! It’s a much more communal culture.

This is so fascinating - I had no idea of this difference! I have definitely been experiencing the NYC-side of the things where we always, always buy something before showing up at a party. Bonfires sound amazing! I hope I'll be able to experience them soon!
